Description
1by1 is a tiny audio player for Microsoft® Windows® and Android™ that plays music directly from folders instead of requiring a media-library database. It is a practical choice for users who keep albums, mixes, lectures or large file lists arranged in directories and want to start playback without importing the collection first.
The player remembers the last track and position, offers folder-tree navigation, and supports common playback helpers such as cue sheets, playlists, scrobbling, gapless play and simple crossfading. On Windows it can use ACM, mpglib and BASS-based decoder support for formats including MP2, MP3, AAC, MP4, CD audio, FLAC, WAV and OGG.

1by1 Features
1by1 focuses on speed and direct folder playback. Instead of building a library, it lets you open a music directory and move through the folder tree, which is ideal for large file lists, removable drives or collections that change frequently.
The player also includes small but useful file-management tools. You can copy, rename or delete files while working through a playlist, adjust dates, use Winamp 2.x plugins, and customize the toolbar through the Control and Toolbar settings or optional button image sets from the project extras.
- Folder-tree navigation with playback of all files in a directory.
- Full resume playback for the last track and position.
- Cue sheet, playlist, Unicode and audio scrobbling support.
- Decoder support for MP3, MP2, AAC, MP4, CD, FLAC, WAV and OGG depending on the enabled libraries.
- Gapless playback, simple crossfading, audio enhancer options and Winamp 2.x plugin support.
1by1 Review
1by1 is most appealing when you want an audio player that opens immediately and respects your existing folder structure. The Windows build is extremely small compared with full media managers, yet it still covers the playback features most people need for albums, long recordings and large unsorted directories.
Setup is straightforward: install it or use it as a portable player, open a music folder and start listening. The interface is compact, so users coming from larger players may spend a few minutes finding preferences, but the core workflow is fast once the folder tree and playback controls are understood.
The customization options are modest but meaningful for a program this small. Toolbar button sets, decoder choices and plugin support let you tune the experience without turning 1by1 into a heavyweight library application, which is exactly why it remains useful beside larger players such as foobar2000 or classic Winamp-style setups.
